Code Enforcement Services

Code Enforcement services provided by the City of West Allis include the Property Maintenance Inspection Program and a Complaint/Referral program.

Property Maintenance Inspection Program

Beginning in 2001, the Property Maintenance Inspection Program instituted a proactive, rather than reactive, code enforcement area for exterior property maintenance through scheduled inspections of specific areas of the City. This program is funded with Community Development Block Grant funds and is overseen by the Director of the Code Enforcement department.

Complaint and Referral Program

The Code Enforcement Department investigates complaints and referrals involving building, mechanical and zoning code violations. If you wish to file a complaint, you may either write a letter addressed to

City of West Allis Code Enforcement Department
7525 W. Greenfield Ave.
West Allis, WI 53214

or call the Property Maintenance hotline at 414-302-8420 or fill out our Let Us Help form. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may address your complaints to your alderperson and they will write the complaint.

Vacant and Foreclosed Property Registration

Within five days of filing with the court of the foreclosure proceedings against a residential property, the mortgagee or agent must register the property in the name of the mortgagee. A separate application is required for each property being registered, annually.
