W. National Avenue
Background
The City of West Allis Engineering Department is in the design phase for the reconstruction of 0.9 miles W. National Avenue to improve pavement condition, safety, and traffic operations along the corridor. W. National Avenue was constructed in the 1960's and the pavement is beyond its designated life. Proposed improvements include reconstruction to provide new pavement, base course, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, replacing traffic signals, and stormwater quality improvements. The addition of bioswales in the medians as green infrastructure to manage storm water, and improved bicycle accommodation along the corridor. Curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
